La calle Avignon se encontraba colmada de bullicio; de entre todos los lugares, países y rincones que la formaban sólo uno mantenía la asepsis frente a todo. Quienes pasaban frente al lugar, donde estaba ELLA, la mayoría de la gente acallaba sus voces y avanzaba en silencio.Era un portal triste, rozando la melancolía de un tiempo ya abandonado por el mundo. Y aunque al observarlo te inundaba de hermosura, tristeza era la suma de sensaciones. A menudo se distinguía una forma alta y lánguida a través del escamoso cristal amarillento, que formaba parte del perenne portal de madera y pintura escamotada.
Carmela era su inquilina. Una mujer que tiempos atrás fue una esbelta modelo y posteriormente una modista de cierto éxito hasta que los vicios y el reconocimiento la llevaron al estrellato más patético. Fue mártir de su adicción a la cocaína y asesina de sus sinapsis con el mundo. Habiendo perdido su percepción de lo veraz, comenzó a vivir según su realidad.
Se la comenzó a ver noctambulando de bar en bar, recolectando imaginaria aguamiel. Siempre con sus discretos pechos descubiertos y sus costillas ciñendo cintura. Poco a poco y tras un intento de violación, la gente del barrio la empezó a estimar y la bautizaron dulcemente con un cruel mote. Desde entonces siempre se la puede encontrar coqueteando con las barras de los bares, con imaginarios amantes y galanes.
Y cuando el sol comienza a ganar la batalla a la oscuridad, siempre se la puede distinguir la quebrada forma tras el cristal, esperando a que la noche se deje caer sobre la calle. Y cuando al salir, oír decir a todo el mundo exclamando por lo bajo: “Mira, la frik d’Avignon”.
